Recent Publications

Dr. Nagele's research focuses on three main areas:

(1) Cardiac outcomes after non-cardiac surgery

(2) Nitrous Oxide: Dr. Nagele has worked on the molecular mechanism of action of nitrous oxide and xenon. He has studied nitrous oxide and its effects on vitamin B12, folate and homocysteine metabolism. Recently, he is credited with the discovery of the antidepressant effect of nitrous oxide in patients with treatment-resistant major depression.
