NANS is a middle size professional organization similar in size with ASRA, about 2500-3000 members; the annual meeting brings together about 3500-4000 (lower numbers during pandemic, of course) and focuses on brain/spine computer interface with significant scientific content that emerges often in this field (such as Neuralink research and application, Elon Musk company, virtual anatomy models, etc). Oftentimes, in plenary sessions, you feel you are in year 2050 (paralyzed people start walking, speech impaired patients start forming words, computers reading minds and writing on a screen, human amigdala filling a room in a virtual reality context, and all sorts of other interesting developments).
